About the Mission:

The family of John Joseph Luby has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. John, 84, of West Sand Lake, passed away on February 12, 2024.

Born in Albany, NY, Jack joined the active duty United States Army on 9 September 1958. He was trained as a Light Weapons Infantryman (MOS 111.17) and was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division stationed in Ft Bragg, NC. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Specialist 4th Class on 11 September 1961, and for his service was awarded a Parachutist Badge.

After his military service, he returned to Albany and joined the City of Albany Fire Department (CAFD) in 1961. His last assignment was Lieutenant of Fire at Old Engine 10. He retired in 1986 with 25 years of service. Jack enjoyed riding his motorcycle, camping, fishing, hunting and his family.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

Staging at the funeral home with a flag line for a dignified transfer. Anticipated departure for Saratoga National Cemetery is 10:00 am.
