About the Mission:

The family of Donald T. Gray has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. Donald, 97, of Colonie passed away peacefully at Van Rensselaer Manor, Troy on Saturday, April 6, 2024.

Born in Buffalo, NY, Donald graduated from Van Rensselaer High School, Class of 1944, and from Sampson College. He served his country in the US Navy during World War II stationed in the South Pacific as a Pharmacist Mate 3 (Petty Officer 3rd Class).

He later worked as a supervisor at the Albany Post Office for over 30 years before his retirement, and was President of the Supervisors Union for the Post Office. He was an avid piano player, playing for the Beltrone Singers. Several years ago, Donald had the opportunity to participate in a Patriot Flight Honor Flight.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.

Special Information:

Staging at the funeral home with a flag line for the Visitation hour between 10:00 - 11:00 am. There will be a funeral service at 11:00, followed by escort to Graceland Cemetery, 680 Delaware Ave, Albany, NY 12209, for interment with military honors.
