About the Mission:

The family of Charles J. Lutz has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in his military honors funeral services. Charles, 77, passed suddenly on Monday, November 27, 2023.

Born in Troy, NY, Charles was a graduate of Catholic Central High School.  After graduation, on 30 June 1965, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps. He was trained as an Aircraft Hydraulics Mechanic (MOS 6351) and was assigned to HQ & Maintenance Squadron, MAG-13, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing at Chu Lai Air Base, South Vietnam. He completed a 14 month tour of duty and was honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal on 27 May 1969. For his service, Charles was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign medal w/60 device and a Sharpshooter Badge.

After the service, Charles worked as a truck driver and as a teamster with Yellow Freight in Albany, New York until his retirement in 2005.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

Staging at the funeral home with a flag line for the arrival of family and guests. Funeral service to be conducted at 09:00, followed by dignified transfer and escort to Saratoga National Cemetery.

Interment with military honors scheduled for 11:30 am. Please stage quietly and in accordance with current guidelines.

NOTE: Interment Shelter 1 may be closed for construction work, so Shelter 2 will be used for this service.
