About the Mission:

The family of Vietnam War veteran Robert R. Roberts has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring his life and service. Mr. Roberts of Attica, NY passed away on 25 November 2023.

Mr. Roberts served our nation for 1 year, 9 months on active duty in the US Army from 1966-1968, with an Army MOS of 11C40-Infantry Indirect Fire Crewman. He served 12 months in South Vietnam from June 1967-June 1968, assigned to the 1st Light Horse Assault Battery, 8th Battalion, 6th Artillery Brigade, 1st Infantry Division. Mr. Roberts was honorably discharged from active duty on 18 June 2023 with the rank of Sergeant (E-5), and he earned the following awards: Bronze Star Medal w/1 Oak Leaf Cluster (2 Awards); Army Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

PGR will provide a respectful flag line during the final hour of visitation from 12:00 PM-1:00 PM. A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 PM, followed by dignified transfer and escort (approx 18 miles) to Lyonsburg Cemetery, 3844 NY-39, Bliss, NY 14024 for interment with Military Honors.

Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or US Army flag, dress for the weather, and ensure your large flags are securely attached for the 18-mile escort.
