About the Mission:

Patriot Guard Riders of NY has been requested to stand in honor of the life and service of Nils Gunnar Hjalmarson, who passed away on 1 April 2022.

Mr. Hjalmarson served our nation for 2 years on active duty in the US Army Infantry from 1963-1965, with an Army MOS of 111.0670-Light Weapons Infantry. He had 19 months of foreign duty at Smith Barracks, Baumholder, Germany, assigned to Company A, 1st Mechanized battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 8th Infantry Division, Seventh US Army.   Mr. Hjalmarson was honorably discharged from active duty on 9 April 1965 with the rank of Private First Class (E-3), and he earned the National Defense Service Medal and M-14 Rifle Marksman Qualification Badge.

NOTE: Military Honors were previously rendered for Mr. Hjalmarson. The family has requested PGR to provide an escort to his final resting place.  Mr. Hjalmarson was a member of the George F. Lamm American Legion Post 622 in Williamsville, NY.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: NYS Guidelines of 2 March 2022, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.

Special Information:

PGR will stand by with a respectful flag line for arrival of the family and funeral director.   KSU at 1:35 PM for the escort to WNY National Cemetery, 1254 Indian Falls Road, Corfu, NY 14036 for the 2:00 PM interment ceremony with PGR honors.  Please arrive with a clean 3x5 American or US Army flag, dress for the weather, and ensure your large flags are securely attached.
