About the Mission:

The family of Cold War veteran John A. Koch has requested Patriot Guard Riders participation in honoring his life and service to our nation. Mr. Koch of Lakeville, NY passed away on 19 April 2024.

Mr. Koch served our nation for 3 years, 4 months on active duty in the US Air Force from 1957-1960, with an Air Force Specialty of 30450B-Radio Relay Equipment Repairman.
His service included almost 2 years of foreign duty, assigned to the 2nd Radio Relay Squadron (2ND RADRELRON), Pacific Air Forces, Kadena Air Base, Okinawa.

Mr. Koch received his honorable discharge on 23 May 1960 with the rank of Airman First Class (E-4) at Travis Air Force Base, California, and he earned the USAF Good Conduct Medal and Cold War Service Commemorative Medal.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Updated 8 March 2022

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: Protect Yourself and Your Family from COVID-19, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.


Special Information:

PGR will be prepared with a respectful flag line for arrival of the family and friends. The Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00 AM. Following the Mass and dignified transfer, PGR will provide an escort (approx. 15 miles) to Leicester Cemetery, Leicester Road (Rt. 20A) (West side of Village of Leicester) for burial with Military Honors.

Please be prepared with a clean 3x5 American or USAF flag, dress for the weather, and ensure your large flags are securely attached for the 15-mile escort. Thank you for devoting your time to help honor the US Air Force service of John A. Koch, and to support his loving family.
