|About the Mission:||On Saturday, April 17, Nassau County will conduct a street renaming ceremony in honor of Sgt. Robert A. Hendriks. Sgt. Hendricks, along with Sgt. Benjamin S. Hines and Staff Sgt. Christopher K.A. Slutman were killed April 8, 2019 while conducting combat operations in Parwan Province, Afghanistan. The three Marines were killed when their vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device near Bagram Air Base, North of Kabul. They were assigned to the 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve. The Patriot Guard Riders had the honor of standing for Sgt. Hendriks during his final honors in 2019.
Nassau County will rename a portion of Forest Avenue in Locust Valley "Sgt Robert A. Hendriks Way."
