About the Mission: The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to stand in honor of the life and service of Fay E. Johnson of Darien Center, who passed away on 23 December 2015. Mr. Johnson's wish was that he be interred when the new WNY National Cemetery was accepting Veterans. (U.S. Army Military Honors were rendered at his original funeral service.)

Mr. Johnson served 2 years on active duty in the US Army from 1952-1954, including 16 months of foreign service as a heavy equipment operator in the Panama Canal Zone. He was Honorably Discharged from active duty on 24 March 1954 with the rank of Private First Class, and he earned the National Defense Service Medal. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Darien Volunteer Fire Company.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

  • While in any outdoor setting, fully vaccinated PGR members will no longer be required to wear masks but are asked to act responsibly and respect your fellow members decision on this issue. For the protection of others, non-vaccinated members are asked to please wear a mask.
  • For the immediate future, all PGR members will continue to wear masks and social distance while indoors during a mission.
  • Masks will be worn at any other location where organizers, requestors or the Lead Ride Captain has determined that this be done.
  • Going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please respect the LRC’s decision on these matters.

Special Information:

The PGR will standby with a flag line for the arrival of the Johnson family at approx. 10:15 AM.
KSU at approx. 10:30 for an escort to the WNY National Cemetery, 1254 Indian Falls Rd, Corfu, NY 14036 for an interment ceremony at 11:00 AM.

Please arrive with a clean 3x5 American or U.S. Army flag, dress for the weather, and ensure your large flags are securely attached.
