|About the Mission:||The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to stand in honor of the life and service of Fay E. Johnson of Darien Center, who passed away on 23 December 2015. Mr. Johnson's wish was that he be interred when the new WNY National Cemetery was accepting Veterans. (U.S. Army Military Honors were rendered at his original funeral service.)
Mr. Johnson served 2 years on active duty in the US Army from 1952-1954, including 16 months of foreign service as a heavy equipment operator in the Panama Canal Zone. He was Honorably Discharged from active duty on 24 March 1954 with the rank of Private First Class, and he earned the National Defense Service Medal. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Darien Volunteer Fire Company.
