original mission request:
As I am sure many requests will be flowing in for the Memorial Service events, I would like to submit a request for  The Patriot Guard Riders to lead  a most meaningful parade in Montauk. This will be a parade to resurrect patriotism, honor and respect. It will be a short run of several blocks through town and end with refreshments and snacks for all for a community gathering.

The parade will take place on SUNDAY 5/29 beginning at 12:30. East End Veterans will be joining the event and will be provided vehicles if unable to walk.

The primary purpose for this parade is to highlight the reason behind Memorial Day.  It will be called a parade of flags in review for all wars we have fought.

No one out here in Montauk can remember the last time a "Memorial" parade had taken place, however the flag and flagpole at the center of town on the green was erected for such a memory.

Last year was the first time in many many years that a service on Monday, Memorial Day was re-ignited in the community that was well attended and well supported. Reveille in the morning with flag raising, mid-day flag adjustment and taps at sundown. Finally proper retirement of worn flags, all handled by Coast Guard, Scouts, Fire Department, Police etc... Review and flag instruction was given with much interest from those in attendance.

This year in addition to the service on Monday we have added a mid-day parade for Sunday.  I am also putting together a free dinner for veterans either for the Saturday or Sunday evening.  The above services do include a view impacting speeches and videos that will show what our military has sacrificed. A true Memorial Weekend.  Its time to accentuate and accelerate the Patriotism in America...  Land that we love...

I wasn't sure of the proper protocol of this request, however it is with good intentions to what is only the right thing to do for our veterans.  (Not to be Forgotten)
