We have again been asked to stand along side the Suffolk County Chapter (11) of the Vietnam Veterans Association at the Vietnam Memorial in Farmingville as they make good on their promise to “Never Forget” those of their brothers and sisters from Suffolk County that never came home.
Stage Area: McDonalds Parking Lot, the east side of Mount Sinai Patchogue Road (just north of LIE Exit 63)
KSU: 1615 hrs
Ride Captain: Jim McElroy
Flags will be on site but be prepared. Depending on the weather, the top of the hill can be breezy and could cool down quickly.
We all say we never forget and it was a shame how they were treated and we seem to be taking better care of our current service personnel (a Long way to go yet) but this is a way to make sure we really never forget.
I do understand that 5 o’clock on Monday evening is a little inconvenient. The weekend is winding down; you have work in the morning; but here are 3 things to think about:
- Is 1 hour too much to ask to let these guys know that they and their brothers and sisters are not forgotten?
- I promise you it will be worth your time and you will never forget the simple respect that resides there.
- It is the least we can do for those kids that were called and answered with their lives when it was not popular to do so.
At the end of the list, the VVA reads the names of others that people present wish to be remembered.
They do not have to be from Suffolk and they do not have to be from Vietnam. If you have someone please listen up before the Readings and give them to the person that ask for them.
Thank you for the time you give to those who stood for us.
