About the Mission: The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to participate in the military honors funeral services for James J. Donohue.

James faithfully and honorably executed his duties to our nation in the U.S. Marine Corps, as an Artillery Assault Marine (0351,) before transferring to the USMC Reserve. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Lance Corporal, and for his service, was awarded the following: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/1 star, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/device, Combat Action Ribbon, Purple Heart Medal, Rifle Marksmanship Badge, and Good Conduct Medal.

He then served in the NYPD for 21 yrs and retired as a Lieutenant. He was awarded, 10 Excellent Police Duty Awards, 4 Meritorious Police Duty Awards, 4 Commendations, and 1 Exceptional Merit Award.
He retired as the Commanding Officer of Manhattan South Narcotics Division and had previously served in the 60 PCT, 72 PCT, 68 PCT, 62 PCT, and Office of the Chief of Department and Brooklyn South Narcotics Division.  He was a member of the NYPD Honor Legion.

The Patriot Guard Riders are honored to have been asked to participate in Mr. Donohue's final honors.

  • * ADDITIONAL MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: Wearing a protective face covering of some kind is required...homemade facemask, bandanna, etc. (Patriotic face coverings would be particularly appropriate) This will not only provide an extra layer of protection to ourselves and others, but will send the message that the PGR takes this crisis seriously and is performing this Mission responsibly.
Special Information: Please stage at the Funeral Home for a dignified transfer and then escort to Saint Bernard of Clairvaux R.C. Church.
