About the Mission:

The family of Charles John Tanner has requested the PGR to stand in honor of this proud American hero. Mr. Tanner served in the U.S. Marine Corps from October 1945 to October 1948. He faithfully and honorably served his country and community. Charlie served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant in 1951. Charlie, an Ex-Captain, was an active member of the Lindenhurst Fire Department for over 70 years. He was the President of the Breslau Cemetery Association, a lifelong member and former Treasurer of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

  • * ADDITIONAL MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: Wearing a protective face covering of some kind is required...homemade facemask, bandanna, etc. (Patriotic face coverings would be particularly appropriate) This will not only provide an extra layer of protection to ourselves and others but will send the message that the PGR takes this crisis seriously and is performing this Mission responsibly.
Special Information:

The family will arrive around 9 am for the final viewing. After a dignified transfer, Mr. Tanner and his family will be escorted to Saint Johns Lutheran Church, 36 E. John St., Lindenhurst for a 10:30 am mass. Persons wishing to stand at church should arrive at 10:10 am. Please remember to bring your own flags.

Persons wishing to stand at the cemetery only should ask personnel to direct them to the burial site where they can await escort and RC Byrne. Remember to bring your flags and dress according to weather conditions.
