About the Mission: The family of James Richard Newkirk has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services.  James, 89, passed on Sunday, December 20, 2020.

James was a proud US Army veteran, and at his passing a resident the past 2 years of the State Veterans home in Stony Brook. He served in the Army from July of 1952 - 1957 in Germany, Battery "B", 69th AAA Gun Battalion, 90mm Army RA Artillery. For his service he received The National Defense Service Medal, The Army of Occupation(Germany) Medal and The Good Conduct Medal

He was also a former Boy Scouts of America Cub Scout Master and Order of the Arrow, Medford Youth Athletics Association Baseball Coach, member of the American Ball Park STAMPeders, a long-standing member of the Knights of Columbus - Chapter #725 of Patchogue and Parishioner of St. Sylvester's Catholic Church in Medford.

  • * ADDITIONAL MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: Wearing a protective face covering of some kind is required...homemade facemask, bandanna, etc. (Patriotic face coverings would be particularly appropriate) This will not only provide an extra layer of protection to ourselves and others, but will send the message that the PGR takes this crisis seriously and is performing this Mission responsibly.
Special Information: For anyone that would like to attend, the wake will be Sunday 12/27/20 at Robertaccio Funeral Home, 85 Medford Ave, Patchogue, NY 11772, from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm.
