About the Mission:

The Family of US Army National Guard Major General Dennis J. Fagan has asked the Patriot Guard Riders to stand for and escort this Hero's to Calverton National Cemetery. General Fagan commanded the 187th Signal Brigade and also the 7th Regiment in Manhattan, serving from 1969 to 1998. He and his father have the distinction of being the only two Generals to command the 7th regiment.

When not serving his country, General Fagan was a school teacher in Sayville as well as a Adjunct Professor for the State University of NY at Oswego School of Education supervising student teachers. He was also a National Officer of the Knights of Templor as well as Chancellor of the Priority of St. Patrick at West Point. Mr. Fagan was married for 47 years and has 4 children and 8 grand children. His awards were many and include the NY Conspicuous Service Medal, Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon (X3), Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal (X2), Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal (X5), Army Achievement Medal (X2), Army Commendation Medal, USA Meritorious Service Medal (X3), USA Legion of Merit, NY State Humane Service Medal, NY State Exercise Ribbon, NY State Aid to Civilian Authorities Ribbon, NY State Long and Faithful Service Ribbon, NY State Military Commendation Medal, and the NY State Meritorious Service Medal. What a long and distinguished career of service he had. Please join us in standing for this hero.

  • * ADDITIONAL MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: Wearing a protective face covering of some kind is required...homemade facemask, bandanna, etc. (Patriotic face coverings would be particularly appropriate) This will not only provide an extra layer of protection to ourselves and others, but will send the message that the PGR takes this crisis seriously and is performing this Mission responsibly.
Special Information: We will escort from the funeral home to Church for mass and then onto Calverton. Please bring your own flags

Second Location: Front Entrance of Calverton National Cemetery. As of now we are able to go to the chapel area but we must remain on the grass along the roadway. If that changes you will be updated.
