About the Mission:

The PGR has been invited by the family of U.S. Navy WW II Veteran Anthony Sturek to stand for and escort to Calverton. Anthony served as a Coxswain in the navy during WW II. For his service, he received the Pacific Theater Ribbon with 1 star, American Theater Ribbon, Victory Ribbon, and Good Conduct Medal. After his service, he owned a gas station and auto repair shop on the Elmont/Stewart Manor town line for more than 20 years. His commitment to service to his community continued as a volunteer fireman in the Stewart Manor Fire Department. Mr. Sturek was a very proud Navy veteran and always spoke of his time aboard ship. Please join us in honoring Anthony's life of service. Some of the above information was taken from his obituary.
