ABOUT THE MISSION:
The family of Captain Joseph Paul Delio Sr. has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his funeral and interment services.
Joseph passed away on July 5, 2017. Born in Brooklyn, he later moved to Dobbs Ferry, New York in 1957 and graduated from Dobbs Ferry High School in 1964. That same year he enlisted in the United States Navy and subsequently served three tours of active duty in Vietnam on Navy Swift boats. His MOS was Radioman and he attained the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class (E-5). For his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal, w/device. He was Honorably discharged in April of 1968.
Joseph joined the Greenburgh Police Department on December 26, 1971 and retired having achieved the rank of Captain, 35 years later, to the day, on December 26, 2006.
The Patriot Guard Riders had the distinct honor and privilege of standing for Joseph's son, NYPD Detective Joseph Paul Delio Jr. in November of 2016.
