About the Mission:

The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) has identified the remains of Astoria native, 2LT John F. McTigue, Killed in Action on 24 August 1944, when the B-17G that he was co-piloting was shot down over Merseberg, Germany.

Lieutenant McTigue served with the 407th Bomber Squadron, 92nd Bomber Group, Heavy, 40th Combat Bomber Wing.  His awards and decorations: Basic Army Aviator Badge, Honorable Service Lapel Pin - World War II, Air Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Purple Heart, and World War II Victory Medal.

The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to participate in bringing Lieutenant McTigue home to his final resting place and Military honors.
