Special Mission – Flag Day Parade – Troy, New York – Sunday, June 12th.

The Troy Flag Day Parade is the largest of its kind in the United States.  It will take 3 to 4 hours for parade participants to travel the 2 mile parade route.

The Grand Marshall of the Parade – Bill Peak – and Parade organizers have made a very special request that the Patriot Guard Riders lead off this parade.

Where/When:

Sunday, June 12th
Parade steps off at 1:00pm
Stage at corner of 4th St and Main St  -  by no later than 12:30pm.

For those coming from the other side of the river – you’ll want to take Rt-378E (Exit 7 on I-787) across the bridge and then follow Rt-4 a short distance to where you will see where we will be forming up for the parade.

This will NOT BE A DUCK WALK parade – we will head out ahead of the Grand Marshal – 1st gear 10 to 12 miles an hour till we reach the reviewing stand where we will park and wait for Grand Marshall to catch up.  Reviewing stand is at 4th and Grand.  Once he arrives we will mount bikes and prepare to give him our “salute” – a noisy one.  Then we will depart.  From there you can cross the Green Island Bridge or make a left and have lunch at Dinosaur Bar-B-Que.  Should be out of the parade by 1:30pm I’m thinking.

Mission Narrative:

Over the years we all have come to know Bill Peak.  Bill is the founding father of the Albany Patriot Flights.  It was Bill who saw the need and created this network that flies our WWII veterans down to Washington D.C. to see their monument.  Many is the time we woke up at 0-dark-30 to motorcycle escort these veterans to the airport and see them off.

Bill Peak has one special request as Grand Marshall of the largest Flag Day parade in the U.S. - that motorcycles with flags lead him in the parade – and PGR motorcycles with flags is what he’s going to get.  Flags, flags, flags.

Let’s be there in numbers to show Bill Peak how much we respect and admire what he has done for our WWII veterans.
