Update - Confirmed Mission -  PFC Dick Lewis - US Army -  1951-52 - Troy, NY - 11/28-11/29/2010

The son of US Army Veteran - Dick Lewis - has requested the participation of the Patriot Guard Riders in the funeral services for his father.

The son, Ron Lewis, is known to many of us in the PGR - from Ron's leadership position with Rolling Thunder, Chapter 5, to his leadership role in Patriot Flight, Inc., that flies WWII veterans down to Washington D.C.   Ron is one of the really good guys it has been my pleasure to know and respect over the last three years.  It will be an honor and a privilege to stand the flag line for his veteran father.

Dick Lewis - influenced by his own father's service in WWI - enlisted in the US Army at the beginning of the Korean War.  His service dates were from Jan, 1951 to Dec, 1952.  PFC Lewis served in HQ CO 109th Infantry.  His specialty was work on testing new technology for sighting mortar strikes that increased our accuracy in combat several fold.  PFC Dick Lewis ended his military service after having serving 5 more years in the Army reserve.

WHERE:
John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home,  565 Fourth Ave, Troy, NY.

WHEN:
Sunday, Nov 28 - Calling hours at the funeral home - 3:00pm to 6:00pm.  Stage at the funeral home for flag line beginning at 2:30PM.

Monday, Nov 29 - Funeral services begin at funeral home at 10:00am.  PGR to form flag line at 9:30am at the funeral home.  PGR will then escort the funeral procession over to Elmwood Hill Cemetery for final interment. Cemetery is located at 51 Belle Ave, Troy - just off of where Pinewoods Ave and Rt-66 intersect.

Weather is slated to be cold but dry over the next three days - use your discretion as to 2 wheels or 4 wheels for Monday morning.  Let's have a good turnout to honor the life and service of Dick Lewis - and to be there for his family and for Ron, who has been a great friend of the military veteran community for many years.

Click to offer condolences on national PGR site.

Thank you.
