About the Mission: The family of Raymond "The Barber" Turnbull has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. Raymond, 81, passed on Friday, May 8, 2020.

From Rotterdam, NY, Raymond entered active US Army service on 7 March 1960. He was trained as an Armor Crewman (MOS 131.10) and served with Company B, 69th Armor Regiment. He was honorably discharged on 6 June 1961 at the rank of PFC (E-3).

Ray was an avid stamp collector. He was a barber for many years at the Westgate Barber Shop and enjoyed daily meals at the Gateway Diner. Ray liked listening to Luciano Pavarotti and playing Bingo.

  • * ADDITIONAL MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: Wearing a protective face covering of some kind is required...homemade facemask, bandanna, etc. (Patriotic face coverings would be particularly appropriate) This will not only provide an extra layer of protection to ourselves and others, but will send the message that the PGR takes this crisis seriously and is performing this Mission responsibly.
Special Information: Staging at the funeral home with flag line for the arrival of family. Memorial Service at 12:30, followed by dignified transfer and escort to Saratoga National Cemetery.

NOTE: PGR escort may enter cemetery grounds, but will exit at the first turn immediately past the main flagpole.  Members are not to congregate at the Visitor Center, but may use the restroom only on the way out, as necessary.  Mandatory COVID-19 rules are to be observed at all times.
