About the Mission: The family of Merton Wayne Houghton has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. Merton, 88, passed on Tuesday, December 22, 2020.

Born in Bennington, VT, Merton served four years in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, between 1951 and 1955. Following his service in the Air Force, he returned to the Bennington/Hoosick Falls area, where he took work at Dodge Fibers Corporations. Merton enjoyed his time volunteering for the Hoosick Falls Fire Department, and served as Chief in 1973.

  • * ADDITIONAL MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: Wearing a protective face covering of some kind is required...homemade facemask, bandanna, etc. (Patriotic face coverings would be particularly appropriate) This will not only provide an extra layer of protection to ourselves and others, but will send the message that the PGR takes this crisis seriously and is performing this Mission responsibly.
Special Information: Staging at the funeral home with a flag line during visitation hours 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. Funeral service at 12:00 pm, followed by interment at St. Mary's Cemetery, Hoosick Falls, NY.
