About the Mission: | The family of Clifford J. Fisher, Jr. has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his funeral services. Cliff, 93, passed at home on Monday, May 4, 2020. Born in Westerlo, NY, Cliff entered the United States Navy on January 20, 1943 when he was just 16 years old. He served aboard the USS Belle Isle (AG-73), a Basilan-class miscellaneous auxiliary ship configured as a repair ship and used in Pacific Ocean operations, and the USS Cacapon (AO-52), a T3 Cimarron-class fleet oiler that provided petroleum products where needed to combat ships in the Pacific. He served honorably, and was discharged on August 2, 1946 at the rank of Seaman 1st Class. For his service, he was awarded the American Theater Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. Cliff was a lifelong resident of the Westerlo/Dormansville area, retiring after 40 plus years from Applebee's Agway in Dormansville. He loved his classic 1963 Ford Fairlane and attending car shows in the area. He was a good friend to many and will be dearly missed. |
