|About the Mission:||The family of Bernard V. Bieg has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. Bernard, 91, formerly of Haynersville, Berlin, and more recently Pittstown, died peacefully, Friday morning, November 12, 2021, at Samaritan Hospital.
Born in Troy, Mr. Bieg was a graduate of Troy High School. On January 2, 1951, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Pope Air Base at Ft. Bragg, NC, where he served as a radio and radar technician. At the time of his honorable discharge in December 1954 he had earned the rank of Staff Sergeant and for his service, was awarded the National defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
After returning home, he enrolled at Hudson Valley Community College and earned an Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Technology. For over 30 years he was employed as a foreman and machine operator by the former Bendix Company in Green Island and retired in 1980. He then was employed for an additional 15 years as a grounds maintenance worker at the Emma Willard School in Troy, until retiring for a second time in 1995.

|Special Information:||Staging at the funeral home for the arrival of family and guests. There will be a short service conducted at 10:00 am, followed by escort to St. Mary's Cemetery, Tibbitts Ave., Troy, for interment with military honors.|
