Honor Mission
Robert W. Garmley
US Army - Vietnam Veteran

Multi-City, NY - 06/07/2021
Mission applies to the following Region(s): Region 4, Region 5
About the Mission: The family of Robert W. "Bob" Garmley has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. Bob, 70, formerly of Pittstown and more recently Saratoga Springs, died Sunday, May 30, 2021.

Born in Troy, Bob was a graduate of Tamarac High School, Class of 1969 and attended Hudson Valley Community College where he studied Electronics and Electrical Engineering. Prior to graduating from HVCC, Bob enlisted in the United States Army on 25 March 1970. After basic training, he was stationed in Vietnam, serving as both a combat infantryman and an aircraft electronics technician. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Specialist 5th Class and for his service, was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Marksman Badge (Rifle).

For over 29 years he was employed as a machinist at the Watervliet Arsenal. After entering as an apprentice and working up to the position of journeyman, he had earned the title of Master Machinist prior to retiring in 1996. In his quiet time, of which there was little, he loved to ride his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and attend car shows where he could visit with other gearheads and veterans like himself.
