The Town of Guilderland has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to participate in a Memorial Street Naming ceremony in honor of 1st Lt. Lanny G. Ladouceur, who was killed in action in Vietnam.

1st Lieutenant Lanny Guy Ladouceur was a graduate of St. John’s Academy of Rensselaer, and a 1968 graduate of Siena College ROTC. In addition to his ROTC activities, Lt. Ladouceur, a Sociology major, compiled an impressive academic record and was active in all intramural sports. While serving in the United States Army as a pilot with the 135th Assault Helicopter Company, Lt. Ladouceur was killed on 19 May, 1970 when the helicopter he was piloting was shot down by antiaircraft fire near Cai Ba, Dinh Tuong Province, South Vietnam. The section of W. Lydius Street, from Church to Carman Road in Guilderland will be renamed in his honor. Lt. Ladouceur’s mother, Marie, has been an active member of the Gold Star Mothers, Chapter 11 in the Capital District for many years.
The Patriot Guard Riders are truly honored to have been invited to stand for 1st Lt. Lanny G. Ladouceur, a local hometown hero.
