About the Mission: The family of Rudolph F. Vojnar has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. Rudolf (Rudy), 93, passed away Tuesday September 29, 2020.

Born in Rotterdam, Rudy joined the United States Marine Corps in 1944 and participated in action against the enemy at Okinawa in 1945. On June 11, 1945, while serving with "F" Company, 2nd Battalion, 22nd Marines, 6th Marine Division, Rudy was wounded in action, receiving a Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal.

Upon returning home, Rudy joined the International Union of Operating Engineers local 106 and was a member for over 60 years. He was a life member of the 6th Marine Division, the 22nd Marines, DAV Post 23, VFW Post 1895 and the Electric City Marine Corps League. He also was a member of the Rotterdam Elks Lodge #2157. He enjoyed being outdoors, playing horseshoes, bocce ball, hunting and fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

  • * ADDITIONAL MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: Wearing a protective face covering of some kind is required...homemade facemask, bandanna, etc. (Patriotic face coverings would be particularly appropriate) This will not only provide an extra layer of protection to ourselves and others, but will send the message that the PGR takes this crisis seriously and is performing this Mission responsibly.
Special Information: Staging at the funeral home with a flag line for the final hour of visitation from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. A brief funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 Noon, followed by escort to Saratoga National Cemetery for interment with full military honors.

The Mandatory Rules for COVID-19 protection, as stated above, will be adhered to at all times during this mission.
