About the Mission:

The family of Robert Carroll Moen has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. Robert, 83, passed on April 22, 2020.

Born and raised in The Village of Colonie, Bob proudly served in the Navy aboard the USS Forrestall (CV-59), a supercarrier named after the first Secretary of Defense James Forrestal, and the USS McNair (DD-679), a Fletcher-class destroyer, from 1955-1959. Bob was honorably discharged with a rating of Boiler Tender First Class (BT1).

Upon his return home he became a member of Colonie Fire Company. He had a 37 year career as a tractor trailer driver and is a proud union man and member of Teamsters Local 294.  He lived in Guilderland and then in Rotterdam, retiring from trucking so he could have more time to do the things he enjoyed. Bob has 20 years service with Schonowe Volunteer Firehouse achieving the ranks of Lieutenant, Captain, and Assistant Chief. Bob was proud to be a Master Pump Operator. In 2011, he was awarded Fireman of the year.
