About the Mission: The family of Paul Donald DeLong has requested Patriot Guard Rider Participation in his military honors funeral services. Paul passed on Thursday, July 23, 2020.

The details of Paul's life and service are very limited. He served in the United States Navy from January 12, 1955 to January 9, 1959, and was a Fireman Apprentice aboard the USS Leary (DDR879) a Gearing-class, radar-picket destroyer. The Leary was part of the U.S. 6th Fleet and made visits to ports in Algeria, Greece, Italy, and the island of Rhodes.

IMPORTANT

  • * ADDITIONAL MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: Wearing a protective face covering of some kind is required...homemade facemask, bandanna, etc. (Patriotic face coverings would be particularly appropriate) This will not only provide an extra layer of protection to ourselves and others, but will send the message that the PGR takes this crisis seriously and is performing this Mission responsibly.
Special Information: Staging at the funeral home with a flag line for the arrival of family and guests. Visitation from 10:00 - 11:30 AM, followed by escort to Oakwood Cemetery, 50 101st St, Troy, NY 12180 for interment with military honors.
