About the Mission: The family of retired US Air Force Reserve Major Hubert A. Loretan has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. Major Loretan, 85, passed on April 25, 2021.

Born in Athol, Massachusetts, Major Loretan attended Athol High School, UMass Amherst, American International College, earning degrees in engineering and business administration. He went on to serve in the United States Air Force from 8 October 1958 to 1 December 1963. He was trained as a pilot on the B-47 Stratojet (AFSC 1235B), and was assigned to the Strategic Air Command, 351st Bomber Squadron. Upon discharge from active duty, Major Loretan went on to serve in the United States Air Force Reserve until his retirement on 22 October 1993.

Herb owned and operated Ruditis Home Appliances in Hoosick Falls. He was a well known pilot in the Cambridge and Bennington area, and was a member of the Hoosick Falls Veterans Association and a local Kiwanian.

  • ** ADDITIONAL MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: Wearing a protective face covering of some kind is required...homemade face-mask, bandanna, etc. (Patriotic face coverings would be particularly appropriate) This will not only provide an extra layer of protection to ourselves and others, but will send the message that the PGR takes this crisis seriously and is performing this Mission responsibly.
Special Information: Staging at the church with a flag line for visitation hour from 10:00 - 11:00 am. Church services scheduled for 11:00 am, followed by escort to St. Mary's Cemetery, 465 Hill Road (Rt. 95), Hoosick Falls, NY for interment with military honors.
