PGRNY Completed Missions

The family of LTC Erik L. Smith has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services.  Colonel Smith, 75, passed away on May 13, 2022, peacefully, at Pinnacle MultiCare Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Bronx, NY.

Born in Stillwater, NY and after graduating from high school, Erik earned his bachelor’s degree in literature at Houghton College and continued on to Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Erik served as a pastor for many congregations throughout his life, as well as serving as a Lieutenant Colonel and Chaplin in the Air National Guard, which entailed several trips to Antarctica. He was honorably discharged in 2007. Furthermore, Erik worked as a Hospice Chaplin until his retirement in 2007.
