ABOUT THE MISSION:
The family of Joseph William Harris has requested Patriot Guard Riders presence at his military honors funeral services. Joseph, 64, died Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at his home in Latham. Born in Troy on October 23, 1952, Joseph was raised in Watervliet and was a graduate of Watervliet High School. He was a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, and was employed by the Watervliet Arsenal as a machinist.
Joseph enlisted in the United States Navy in April of 1970. He served aboard the USS White Plains (AFS-4), a Mars Class Combat Stores Ship. His MOS was SK2800 – Storekeeper. During his service, Joseph achieved the rank of Seaman Apprentice (E-2) and received the National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal. He was Honorably discharged in December of 1970.
