About the Mission: The family of Joseph P. Renehan has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. Joseph, 72, passed on Monday, December 28, 2020.

Born in Troy, Joseph was raised in Lansingburgh and was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School. He entered the United States Army on 30 January 1968, and after completing Combat Training, was assigned as a Cook (MOS 94B20) with Company C, 168th Engineer Battalion in Vietnam, spending almost 15 months in country. He was honorably discharged on 5 September 1969 at the rank of Specialist 4th Class (E-4), and for his service was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Sharpshooter Badge (Rifle).

Joe graduated from Hudson Valley Community College and was employed at Owens Corning in Delmar for several years, retiring 11 years ago. He was a member and Post Commander of the American Legion Post #1489 in Wynantskill.

  • * ADDITIONAL MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: Wearing a protective face covering of some kind is required...homemade facemask, bandanna, etc. (Patriotic face coverings would be particularly appropriate) This will not only provide an extra layer of protection to ourselves and others, but will send the message that the PGR takes this crisis seriously and is performing this Mission responsibly.
Special Information: Staging at the funeral home with a flag line for the arrival of family and guests. Visitation hours are from 11:am - 12:45 pm, followed by escort and 1:00 pm graveside service at St. Mary's Cemetery, 79 Brunswick Rd., Troy.
