About the Mission: | The Patriot Guard Riders will stand in silent honor of the life and service of John Joseph Walsh, Sr. John served in the US Navy during the Korean War, called from inactive duty on 20 February 1952. He served as a cook aboard the USS Aludra (AF-55), an Alstede-class stores ship for 18 months. He was honorably discharged on 18 December 1953 as a Commissaryman, Petty Officer 3rd Class. For his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, China Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. Special Information: | Staging at the funeral home with a flag line for the arrival of family at 10:30 am. There will be a private service conducted at 11:00 am, followed by dignified transfer and escort to our Lady of Angels Cemetery, 1389 Central Avenue where interment with military honors will be conducted. |
