|About the Mission:||The family of Henry "Hank" Landau has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. Hank. 91, passed on Wednesday, December 30, 2020.
Born in Albany, NY, Hank was very proud to have been a Philip Schuyler High School graduate. He served in the US Navy 1945-46 aboard the USS Sylvania (AKA-44), an Artemis-class attack cargo ship, and participated in two nuclear weapons tests called “Operation Crossroads” at Bikini Atoll in the Marshall Islands, Pacific Theater.
He was most proud to have been a member of the Sheet Metal Worker’s Local Union #83 since 1948. Hank served on the Executive Board and the Negotiating Committee prior to becoming a Business Representative in 1960. In 1967 he became President Business Manager of Local #83 until 1984 at which time he was selected to the CEO post of Secretary-Treasurer of the NY State Building and Construction Trades Council consisting of 15 different trades and 210,000 union hard hats. In 1991 he retired.
