About the Mission:

The family of Mr. Gerald Cashion has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. Gerald passed away on February 14, 2019.

Jerry entered the United States Air Force in 1960, and being a talented bagpiper, was awarded the opportunity to play for the United States Air Force bagpipe band. He traveled the entire country over his four years of service, playing for large crowds, as well as White House guests. He met President John F. Kennedy in September of 1963, just two months before he was assassinated.  He was selected as a bagpiper who played for President Kennedy's funeral.  Being selected for such a historical event was a fact that he was very proud of.

After his military service, Mr. Cashion worked for G.E. and attended Castleton College in Vt. He received a degree in English Education and returned to work in his alma mater, Glens Falls Middle School where he taught and coached sports for 30 years. He will be remembered as an English teacher and most specifically a bagpiper.

Jerry played bagpipes at many funerals that the PGR has attended.  It will be our privilege to render military honors for the life and service of Mr. Jerry Cashion.

The above information was taken from his obituary which can be read at,  https://www.bakerfuneralhome.com/obituary/gerald-cashion
