About the Mission: The family of CPO John B. Ebenhoch, Jr. has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. John, 61, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021.

John graduated from Hudson Valley Community College in 1979 and enlisted in the US Navy for 6 years serving aboard submarines before his discharge in 1985, including time aboard the USS Skipjack, a nuclear-powered attack submarine. He then served 20 years in the US Navy Reserves retiring in 2005 as a Chief Petty Officer. Following his discharge, John returned to college and received his bachelor’s degree in Finance at SUNY Brockport in 1987. He was currently employed by the Internal Revenue Service in Albany for the past 35 years as a revenue officer.

John was very active in the Watervliet community serving as the President of the Watervliet Little League, the Watervliet Pop Warner and the treasurer of the Watervliet High Dad’s Club. He was a member of the Watervliet Lodge of Elks and participated in its Dart League, Watervliet AOH, Watervliet VFW Post #729, American Legion, Fleet Reserve Association, the Capital District Chief Petty Officers Association and was heavily involved with the Wreaths Across America program at Saratoga National Cemetery.

  • ** ADDITIONAL MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: Wearing a protective face covering of some kind is required...homemade face-mask, bandanna, etc. (Patriotic face coverings would be particularly appropriate) This will not only provide an extra layer of protection to ourselves and others, but will send the message that the PGR takes this crisis seriously and is performing this Mission responsibly.
Special Information: Staging at the funeral home with a flag line for the dignified transfer. Escort to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 2416 7th Avenue, Watervliet, NY 12189 to follow. Services scheduled for 10:00 am, followed by escort to Saratoga National Cemetery for interment with military honors.
