About the Mission: The family of CMSgt Albert Patrick Fives has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. Sergeant Fives, 95, passed on Monday, March 22, 2021.

Sergeant Fives' military career spanned more than 4 decades. Enlisting in the US Navy in 1941 at the age of 17, he served aboard the USS Cottle (APA-147), a Haskell-class attack transport, landing troops and supplies on the Philipinne Islands. He was honorably discharged on December 26, 1945 at the rank of Seaman 1st Class, but remained in the Navy Reserves for another 7 years.

Continuing his career, he transferred to the New York Air National Guard and later, the US Air Force.  He was sent to Kun-Son, South Korea during the "Pueblo Incident" in 1968, where he served as a heavy equipment operator. Sergeant Fives returned home and went on to serve in the US Air Force and Air Force Reserve, until his retirement in 1983 at the rank of Chief Master Sergeant (E-9).

For his honorable service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, American Campaign Medal, the WWII Victory Medal, and many more awards and decorations.

The Patriot Guard Riders are proud to have the opportunity to stand for and honor the life and service of Chief Master Sergeant Albert Patrick Fives, WWII Veteran a "Greatest Generation" Hero.

  • ** ADDITIONAL MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: Wearing a protective face covering of some kind is required...homemade face-mask, bandanna, etc. (Patriotic face coverings would be particularly appropriate) This will not only provide an extra layer of protection to ourselves and others, but will send the message that the PGR takes this crisis seriously and is performing this Mission responsibly.
Special Information: Interment with military honors scheduled for 1:00 pm. Those members arriving early are asked to form a flag line at the entrance to the cemetery for the arrival of the funeral cortege.
