ABOUT THE MISSION:
The family of Bobby Porterfield has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. Bobby, 68, entered into Eternal rest on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital. Born in Georgetown, SC, he lived in Albany County for many years, and worked as a truck driver for Air Products and Chemicals.
Mr. Porterfield enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in June of 1968, during the 2nd Phase of the Tet Offensive in Vietnam, and completed a 13 month tour of duty as a Rifleman (MOS0311). For his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal w/1 Star, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/Bronze Star, and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/Palm. He was also awarded the Combat Action Ribbon and Certificate of Appreciation. Mr. Porterfield was Honorably discharged in April of 1971 at the rank of Private.
The Patriot Guard Riders are proud to have the opportunity to stand and demonstrate Honor, Dignity and Respect for the life and service of Mr. Bobby Porterfield, proud United States Marine and Vietnam Veteran.

Military honors services scheduled for 1:30 PM. For those staging directly to the cemetery, please stage quietly in parking area of Interment Shelter 2. Please be aware of any services already in progress.
