ABOUT THE MISSION:
I am sad to report that we have lost yet another member of the “Greatest Generation. Mr.Angelo Picarazzi, 91, died Wednesday, June 21, 2017 after a short Illness.
Born in Strangolagalli, Italy, Angelo was a WWII Army veteran who served as a rifleman with the 9th Infantry Division, 47th Regiment. He participated in the Normandy Invasion, the Battle of Saint Lo, the Battle of the Bulge and was one of the first troops to cross the Remagen Bridge into Germany. He was wounded three times and was a recipient of the Purple Heart w/two Oak Leaf Clusters. He was also awarded the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon w/3 Service Stars, the World War II Victory Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge for excellence in front line combat. Angelo was Honorable Discharged at the rank of Private First Class on 25 January, 1946.
Angelo was a yard master at Conrail in Selkirk where he worked for 40 years. He was an avid horseracing fan and enjoyed spending time at the Saratoga Race Track.
The Patriot Guard Riders are proud to have the opportunity to render dignity, honor and respect for the life and service of Mr. Angelo Picarazzi, proud United States Army and WWII Veteran.
