| About the Mission: | The family of Alexander F. "Al" Pirrera has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. Al, 74, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, at St. Mary’s Hospital, after a lengthy illness, with his loving wife at his side. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Al graduated from Mater Christi High School in 1965 and began working for the US Postal Service. He was drafted into enlisted service as a Private in 1968. He transferred to Officer Candidate School, earning the rank of Captain. He completed a tour of duty in Vietnam, and was honorably discharged in 1972. Al was later employed at Detroit Supply Company for ten years, until its closure and then at Lyon Metal Products, for 20 years, retiring in 2010. He also worked as a US Census Taker. | Special Information: | Staging at the funeral home with a flag line for the arrival of family and guests. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:30 am, followed by escort to Saratoga National Cemetery for interment with military honors. |
