About the Mission: The family of Alexander F. "Al" Pirrera has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. Al, 74, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, at St. Mary’s Hospital, after a lengthy illness, with his loving wife at his side.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Al graduated from Mater Christi High School in 1965 and began working for the US Postal Service. He was drafted into enlisted service as a Private in 1968. He transferred to Officer Candidate School, earning the rank of Captain. He completed a tour of duty in Vietnam, and was honorably discharged in 1972.

Al was later employed at Detroit Supply Company for ten years, until its closure and then at Lyon Metal Products, for 20 years, retiring in 2010. He also worked as a US Census Taker. Al was a member of the DAV, an avid fisherman and a NASCAR enthusiast.

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: NYS Guidelines of 2 March 2022, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.

Special Information: Staging at the funeral home with a flag line for the arrival of family and guests. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:30 am, followed by escort to Saratoga National Cemetery for interment with military honors.
