About the Mission: The family of Alan K. Barre has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his military honors funeral services. Alan, 73, passed on December 10, 2019.

Born in Albany, Alan enlisted in the United States Navy on 21 October, 1965. He earned the rating of Machinist Mate 3rd Class while serving aboard the USS Gyatt (DD-712), a Gearing-class destroyer. Alan was honorably discharged on 6 September, 1968 at the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class (E-4), and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal for his service.

Alan retired from the NYS Office of General Services where he worked as a professional mechanical/HVAC engineer. He was a big fan of NASCAR and especially enjoyed his many NASCAR RV camping experiences with family and friends, and was also a motorcycle enthusiast. Throughout the years he owned various BMW models and an extremely cool Vincent.
