About the Mission: The family of Edward C. Housel has requested Patriot Guard Rider participation in his funeral services.  Edward, 95, passed away on July 14, 2020.

Edward attended Blessed Sacrament School and Aquinas Institute prior to entering the service in July of 1943.  He was a DUKW (Duck) amphibious vehicle driver and landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day. He was commended by his commanding officer for skillful assistance rendered the Second Armored Division of the Ninth Army during the crossing of the Elbe River.

The Patriot Guard Riders are proud to have the opportunity to stand in honor of the life and service of Edward C. Housel, proud US Army WWII Veteran and "Greatest Generation" hero.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

The Mandatory Rules for Covid-19 protection practices...these WILL be strictly enforced.

  • Stay a minimum of 6 feet apart from each other at all times.
  • No handshaking, fist-bumping, hugs, cheek kissing or any other physical contact.
  • Follow all Covid-19 protection practices as described on the CDC website.

  • * ADDITIONAL MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: Wearing a protective face covering of some kind is required...homemade facemask, bandanna, etc. (Patriotic face coverings would be particularly appropriate) This will not only provide an extra layer of protection to ourselves and others, but will send the message that the PGR takes this crisis seriously and is performing this Mission responsibly.
Special Information: Staging at the church with a flag line for the arrival of family and guests.  Funeral service scheduled from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm.  Dignified transfer to follow church services.  There will be no PGR participation at the cemetery due to COVID-19 restrictions.

All mandatory rules for COVID-19 protection as outlined above are to be strictly adhered to at all times.
