ABOUT THE MISSION:
We have been requested to stand in Honor of career US Air Force/Reserves Veteran Russell A. Battaglia, who passed away on June 13th at the age of 66. Mr. Battaglia retired as a Master Sergeant in 2003 from the 914th Airlift Wing in Niagara Falls as a Budget Officer after serving our Nation for 33 years (1970-2003.) He also served until 2011 with the Defense Intelligence Agency as a Financial Manager. Among the many awards earned by MSGT Battaglia for his Service to our Nation were: Air Force Meritorious Service Medal; Air Force Commendation Medal; Air Force Achievement Medal w/cluster; Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Services Medal; Gallant Unit Citation Ribbon w/4 clusters; National Defense Service Medal; and many more. Mr Battaglia was a member of the Pendleton Veteran's Association and the Patriot Guard Riders of NY.

Note: The brother of MSGT Battaglia also served, and his son is currently serving since 1992 with multiple deployments.
