About the Mission: The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to stand in honor of the life and service of Edward G. Hilsdorf, Sr., formerly of Dansville, who passed away on 6 February 2021.

Full military service information is pending, but we know that Mr. Hilsdorf, Sr. is a Vietnam Veteran, and was honorably retired on 31 August 1972 (20 years active duty) with the rank of Technical Sergeant (E-6.) His first 3-1/2 years (1952-1956) were served as an Aircraft Propeller Mechanic with the 772nd Troop Carrier Squadron at Ardmore Air Force Base, Oklahoma.

For his service, he earned the following awards: Bronze Star Medal; Air Force Good Conduct Medal w/2 Oak Leaf Clusters; Air Force Outstanding Unit Award; Air Force Longevity Service Award w/4 Oak Leaf Clusters; Vietnam Service Medal; and Vietnam Campaign Medal.

  • ** ADDITIONAL MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: Wearing a protective face covering of some kind is required...homemade face-mask, bandanna, etc. (Patriotic face coverings would be particularly appropriate) This will not only provide an extra layer of protection to ourselves and others but will send the message that the PGR takes this crisis seriously and is performing this Mission responsibly.
Special Information:

PGR will provide a flag line for the dignified transfer of Mr. Hilsdorf and for the arrival of family and friends.  Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 3:00 PM, followed by dignified transfer and 3-mile escort to Holy Cross Cemetery, 10127 Stones Falls Rd (CR-27), Dansville, NY for burial with Military Honors.  Map to Cemetery: https://goo.gl/maps/pmrobpNDWVfPy6yb9

Please arrive with a clean 3x5 American or USAF flag, dress for the weather, and ensure your large flags are securely attached.
