ABOUT THE MISSION:
We have been requested to stand in Honor of the Military Service of Arthur "Whitey" Dryja of Cheektowaga, who passed away on August 19th.
We have documentation that Mr. Dryja served in the Merchant Marines during WWII in both the Atlantic War Zone and the Mediterranean Middle East War Zone. (Merchant Mariners who served in WWII are officially recognized as Veterans.) According to the family, Mr. Dryja joined the Merchant Marines at the age of 16, served 6 years, came home, married, then was drafted into the Army and served during the Korean War and Discharged as a Sergeant. The family and Funeral Director are searching for the Army documentation.
