ABOUT THE MISSION:
The PGR has been invited to participate in this important event and fund raiser. This is WNY's largest 9/11 Remembrance event, and is named after an off-duty FDNY firefighter who ran from Brooklyn, thru the Brooklyn/Battery Tunnel, to the World Trade Center, and died in the collapse of the Towers. This event has three (3) purposes: Honor America's First Responders; Help us keep our National promise to "Never Forget"; Raise funds to build homes for American military personnel severely wounded in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The foundation has built over 36 homes for veterans who have sacrificed 2, 3 or even all 4 limbs in IED explosions, been severely burned, or have been paralyzed. A home is being worked on now for WNY Marine Cpl. Mark O'Brien, who was injured in Iraq when his Humvee was hit by an RPG during an insurgent attack. Cpl. Mark O'Brien will be present at this event. This event is expected to attract 500 runners.
