We have been requested to stand in Honor of Iraq War Veteran Joel W. Turner, who passed away on December 20th, at the much too young age of 43.  Mr. Turner served a total of 9 years Active Duty and 11 years Inactive Duty in the US Army.

Joel W. Turner first entered the US Army in August, 1991 and served 3 years Active Duty.  His MOS was 19D10 - Cavalry Scout, and he was stationed with the 177th Armored Brigade at Ft. Irwin, CA.  During this period, SPC Turner earned the National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Rifle & Hand Grenade Qualification Badges.  SPC Turner was then transferred to the Army Reserves.  From 1999 thru 2012 Mr. Turner served 6 more years Active Duty and 6 years Reserves.  During this period his MOS was 88M20 - Motor Transport Operator.  He served a total of 24 months during 2 deployments in Iraq (2007-2009; 2010-2011.)  Mr. Turner was Honorably Discharged on 24 February 2012 with the rank of Sergeant (E-5.)  For his Service to our Nation, Sgt. Turner was awarded: Army Commendation Medal (3 Awards), Army Achievement Medal (2 Awards), Army Good Conduct Medal (2 Awards), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal (2 Awards), Army Service Ribbon and Overseas Service Ribbon (2 Awards).

Please do what you are able to ensure we have a good presence in Honor of Mr. Turner's long Service to our Nation, and to support his loving family.   Please arrive on time with a clean 3x5 American Flag or a US Army flag, and dress for the weather.
