About the Mission: The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to stand in honor of the life and service of Vincent F. Gembolys of Buffalo, who passed away on 24 January 2021.

Mr. Gembolys served on active duty in the US Marine Corps from 1969-1970, including 12 months in combat operations in South Vietnam. His MOS was 0331-Machine Gunner, and he was attached to Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. Mr. Gembolys was honorably discharged on 5 August 1970 with the rank of Lance Corporal (E-3).  He earned the following awards: National Defense Service Medal; Combat Action Ribbon; Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Bronze Campaign Star; Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm & Frame; and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

  • * ADDITIONAL MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: Wearing a protective face covering of some kind is required...homemade facemask, bandanna, etc. (Patriotic face coverings would be particularly appropriate) This will not only provide an extra layer of protection to ourselves and others but will send the message that the PGR takes this crisis seriously and is performing this Mission responsibly.
Special Information:

(NOTE: Calling Hours are scheduled from 4:00-8:00 PM. As per current PGRNY protocol, a flag line will not be provided during calling hours.)

The PGR will participate in the funeral service, scheduled for 8:00 PM, including USMC military honors and presentation of the PGR Plaque.    Please arrive with a clean 3x5 American or USMC flag.
