About the Mission: The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to stand in honor of the life and service of Thomas C. Mann, formerly of Nunda, NY, who passed away on 10 November 2021 in Florida.

Mr. Mann was a true warrior, serving almost 3 years of active duty in the US Army from 1965-1968. He had 2 MOS's: 36C20-Pole Lineman and 05B4S-Radio Operator, and he was a proud graduate of the Special Forces Training Group at the John F. Kennedy Center for Special Warfare at Fort Bragg, NC.

Mr. Mann served two tours in Vietnam - a total of 18 months - where he served with the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), 1st Special Forces. He was wounded twice, on 29 March 1967 and 31 March 1967. Mr. Mann was honorably discharged from active duty on 23 March 1968 with the rank of Sergeant (E-5.)

Confirmation of a Silver Star Medal is pending, but Mr. Mann earned the following: Purple Heart Medal w/1 Oak Leaf Cluster (2 awards); Army Commendation Medal w/1 Oak Leaf Cluster (2 awards) and w/"V" Device (Valor.); Combat Infantryman Badge; National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Bronze Service Star; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; and the Army Parachutist Badge.

Mr. Mann was a member of the Seager-Werner Post 333 American Legion and the Dalton, NY VFW.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

Based on the most current COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines: NYS Guidelines of 2 March 2022, and CDC Guidelines of 3 March 2022, going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please ensure that you have a mask with you, should the need arise, and respect the LRC’s decision in these matters.

Special Information: Vietnam Era US Navy Veteran and PGRNY member Tom Paine will serve as Acting LRC for his longtime friend, Thomas Mann.  There is no escort or cemetery involved with this Mission.  PGR will stand with a respectful flag line for arrival of the family and friends.  A Military Honors service and Celebration of Life is scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM.

Please arrive with a clean 3x5 American or US Army flag, and dress for the weather.  Thank you for taking time to help honor the US Army Special Forces Vietnam War service of Thomas C. Mann, and to support his loving and proud family.
