About the Mission: The Patriot Guard Riders have been requested to stand in honor of the life and service of Roger P. Dearmyer, who passed away on 31 December 2021.

Detailed military service is pending, but we know that Mr. Dearmyer served in the US Army from 1966-1968, and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal for wounds suffered while serving in Vietnam with the 4th Infantry Division. Mr. Dearmyer went on to serve a 31-year Law Enforcement career with the Erie County Sheriff’s Office from 1970-2001, retiring as a Detective.

Mr. Dearmyer was a life member of many organizations, including: National 4th Infantry (Ivy) Division Association; Erie County Sheriff Badge & Shield Club; and Disabled American Veterans.

Special Covid-19 Mission Guidelines:

  • While in any outdoor setting, fully vaccinated PGR members will no longer be required to wear masks but are asked to act responsibly and respect your fellow members decision on this issue. For the protection of others, non-vaccinated members are asked to please wear a mask.
  • For the immediate future, all PGR members will continue to wear masks and social distance while indoors during a mission.
  • Masks will be worn at any other location where organizers, requestors or the Lead Ride Captain has determined that this be done.
  • Going forward, the Lead Ride Captain for any mission will be responsible for determining whether PGR members will have to mask up or not. Please respect the LRC’s decision on these matters.

Special Information: PGR will stand with a respectful flag line for arrival of the family and friends.  The funeral service is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM. Following the service and dignified transfer, PGR will provide an escort to Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 800 Pine Ridge Heritage Blvd, Cheektowaga, NY 14215 for interment with Military Honors. Please arrive with a clean 3x5 American or US Army flag, dress for the weather, and ensure your large flags are securely attached.
